Pine Cay, a privately owned 800 acre island in the Turks and Caicos (British West Indies), provides barefoot civility and little else. We were catering to demanding European clients and working with local craftsmen, many of whom specialized in masonry. One of our biggest challenges was that every bit of material had to be shipped in from Miami - there were no local lumber yards or hardware stores. This required extensive planning and obsessive attention to detail.
