A wreck of an apartment in a prewar limestone gem of a building. Our challenge was to recapture the apartment's elegance. We decided to keep the original floor plan, restore the wood trim and plaster mold, and bring the apartment to life through the use of color. The kitchen features relatively inexpensive Thermofoil Cabinets with Art Deco Bakelite handles and an Italian marble countertop. The long abandoned fireplace was restored and framed in slate and quarter-sawn oak. We renovated the turn of the century bathroom using Ming Green hexagonal tiles on the floor, celadon subway tiles on the walls, and a Kohler Tea for Two tub.
