Integrated Project Management (IPM)

Integrated Project Management allows Oyster Works to combine architecture with project management to provide a single point of contact for the entire project.

Traditional approaches to construction establish silos of responsibility: architects and contractors are often adversaries with each side acting to protect their interests and maximize their profits.

Oyster Works' use of Integrated Project Management brings together the expertise of architects, engineers, and contractors in an open, transparent process to design and build as cost effectively and efficiently as possible.  Using the combined expertise of the project team is particularly helpful in the design and construction of energy efficient buildings that use emerging technologies and building systems.  Integrated Project Management is an integral part of Oyster Works' focus on developing thoughtful, sensibly green projects.

Owners benefit as the open sharing of project knowledge makes for easier communications and allows owners to evaluate different options early on in the design process.  Integrated Project Management strengthens the teams' understanding of the owner's intentions and increases the likelihood that the project will meet its goals, including budget, schedule, quality and sustainability.

Contractors benefit because Integrated Project Management allows them to contribute their knowledge and expertise early in the design process and this results in better design and a more efficient construction process.

Architects & Engineers benefit by including the input from contractors early in the design phase which allows them to use accurate budget estimates to inform the design process and to resolve design-related problems while they are still on the drawing board.  By incorporating feedback from major contractors and involving the owner early in design/budget issues, cost control and budget management are strengthened and realistic goals are set.
